Dr. Jacqueline T. Cheng and Dr. Elbert T. Cheng are the only brother and sister facial surgery team practicing in the United States.
How we work: It's synergy.
What is most advantageous about working as a brother-sister team is that, although we bring the same instincts and dedication to our work, we also bring two sets of experience, two minds, and two sets of eyes to benefit of our patients. We often work independently with patients, but in some more complex cases, we work together before, during and after surgery. This flexibility allows for true collaboration and very successful results.
Elbert T. Cheng, MD
Dr. Elbert Cheng is a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon in Saratoga, California. He was raised in Mountain View and attended Stanford for his undergraduate studies, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors. Still wanting to pursue his love for science, he traveled to England and undertook research and additional studies at Oxford University.
Once back in the US, he completed his Medical Degree at Duke University and returned to his roots, Stanford, for his residency in Head and Neck Surgery. After five years of intense training, he traveled to Indianapolis for one additional year of focused study with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This sparked a passion in aesthetic surgery, where he was able to combine his love for teaching, medicine and helping patients achieve their idea of beauty.
After his fellowship, he decided to return to the Bay Area to embark on his own journey alongside his sister, Dr. Jacqueline, to create a practice unique to their dynamic and unmatched skill. Dr. Elbert is passionate about many things in his life, and his wife and children are at the top of the list. He is a sports enthusiast and is an avid runner, swimmer and golfer.
Background & Credentials
Dr. Elbert is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Santa Clara County Medical Society. He has been an Advanced Allergan Trainer and Instructor for over 15 years, training over 500 doctors and providers all throughout the state of California.
Above all else – Dr. Elbert's biggest passion in the field of facial plastic surgery is the cycle of learning and teaching, as he strongly believes the best teachers are the best learners. Throughout 17 years, Dr. Elbert and Jacqueline Cheng have consistently mentored high school and college students with a passion for surgery and held externships for medical assistants. For this reason, Dr. Elbert continues to partake in medical research to always have the most up-to-date knowledge of the field to better educate his audience. Most importantly, he feels he learns the most from his daily interactions with his patients and becomes a better doctor because of it.
Giving Back
In addition to his love for teaching, Dr. Elbert holds a strong passion for helping those who need it most. During a trip to Honduras in 2015 with FootSteps Missions, he was able to help economically orphaned children by building housing and teaching facilities to aid in their mental, physical and emotional development. This passion translates into Dr. Elbert’s daily interactions with his patients – providing them with compassion and support to not only help them with their idea of physical beauty, but help them reach their highest level of emotional and mental confidence as well. These ideals shared between Dr. Elbert and his staff is what will always set Cheng Plastic Surgery apart from the rest.
