Does thread lifting cause any scarring?
At Cheng Plastic Surgery, we perform the thread lifting procedure under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. There are no incisions used for the procedure; which means no residual scarring and very little (if any) downtime following treatment. One of our surgeons will place two to four sutures on either side of the face via a narrow needle, in a predetermined pattern, to ensure a balanced, symmetrical appearance.
How long will the procedure take, and will it be painful?
The entire procedure takes about 45 minutes to complete. During that time, you should not feel any discomfort, thanks to the numbing medication. Once the sutures are placed and tightened according to your desired look, you will be able to leave our center and return home.
Will there be any downtime?
There is no significant recovery time after your thread lifting procedure. You can return to your daily schedule within a day or two. You may have some mild bruising, swelling, or redness in the areas where the sutures were inserted, but these side effects resolve within a few days.
Will the results be noticeable right away?
The results of this nonsurgical lift are noticeable immediately following your procedure, as your facial profile should appear lifted and more youthful. Sagging in the midface and jowl formation along the jawline will be lifted and more youthful, with results improving as the days pass. As the sutures stimulate the body to produce higher levels of collagen, every day brings an improvement in your skin quality and firmness.
Will I need additional treatments?
Like any anti-aging treatment, including surgery, the positive improvements will begin to fade over time as the effects of time and gravity begin to take their toll once again. A thread lifting procedure typically provides a more youthful look for about 12 to 18 months before another treatment might be necessary. You can also combine thread lifting with other treatments such as injectables or skin rejuvenation with a custom peel or other treatment to further enhance and prolong the results.
